3CX – Create Extensions Guide

✅ 3CX – Create Extensions (Simple Step‑by‑Step)

1. Log into the Admin Console

  • Open your 3CX Admin Console in a browser
  • Sign in with your admin credentials

2. Go to Users

  • In the left menu, navigate to:
    Admin → Users

3. Add a New User (Extension)

  • Click “+ Add User”

4. Enter Basic Extension Details

Fill in the General tab:

  • Extension Number
    • Auto-filled (you can change it if needed)
  • First Name & Last Name
    • Used to identify the user
  • Email Address
    • Required for welcome email, login info, voicemail alerts
  • Mobile Number (optional)
    • Used for call forwarding
  • Outbound Caller ID (optional)
    • Number shown on outgoing calls
  • Role
    • Set permissions (User, Admin, etc.) 

5. (Optional) Assign Department & DID

  • Department → controls settings like timezone and visibility
  • DID Number → assign a direct inbound number (if applicable)

6. Configure Additional Settings (Optional)

You can adjust more settings if needed:

  • Call forwarding rules
  • Voicemail
  • Phone provisioning
  • BLF keys / permissions
  • Working hours schedule

7. Save the Extension

  • Click Save to create the user/extension

8. User Receives Welcome Email

  • 3CX automatically sends a welcome email with:
    • Login details
    • Setup instructions
    • App links
