How to Port Your Mobile Number: Simple Step‑by‑Step Guide for Physical SIM & eSIM Users

What is the process to port my mobile number to Summit?

How to Port Your Mobile Number

Keeping your mobile number when switching providers to Summit is easier than many people expect. The process is almost always quick and designed so you experience little (if any) downtime.

Below are two easy “follow‑along” scenarios.

🔄 Scenario 1: Porting Your Number with a Physical SIM

✅ What you’ll need

  • A new SIM card sent to you from Summit
  • Your current mobile number
  • Your phone must be unlocked (most modern phones already are)

🚶 Step‑by‑Step

1. Let Summit know you're ready to port

Call our friendly team on 1300 049 749. All we will need is:

  • Your current mobile number
  • Your new SIM card number
Summit will then start the process to port your number

2. Insert your new SIM card

Place your new SIM into your phone, but don’t be surprised if it shows No Service or something along these lines — this is normal.

3. Wait while the number transfers

This usually takes around 20 minutes.

During the handover, your phone may briefly lose signal. This is expected.

4. Test your phone

Once the port completes:

  • Your old SIM will stop working
  • Your new SIM will now show your proper mobile number

Try making a call or sending a text to confirm everything is working.

🎉 You're done!

Your number now lives on the Summit network.

🔄 Scenario 2: Porting Your Number with an eSIM

An eSIM is a digital SIM — no plastic card required. Porting with an eSIM is often even faster.

✅ What you’ll need

  • A phone compatible with eSIM
  • Wi‑Fi or mobile data
  • Your current mobile number

🚶 Step‑by‑Step

1. Receive your eSIM activation info

After being advised you would prefer to use an eSIM, we will email you a QR code to activate your new eSIM.

2. Activate your eSIM

When we confirm the port is ready, scan the QR code

Your phone will add the new mobile plan digitally. You won’t need to remove anything physically — the old plan will simply deactivate once the port is complete.

3. Wait briefly for the number transfer

As with physical SIMs:

  • Most ports complete within minutes
  • Your service may briefly drop while the number switches over

4. Test your number

Try calling or messaging someone.
If everything works, the port is successful and your old provider will automatically cancel your previous service.

🎉 Done!

Your number is now running on the Summit network via eSIM.
