Summit 4G Installation and Setup 

The Summit 4G NTU provides a connect to the Telstra 3G/4G network as a best effort data serviceThe technology used and the speed will vary depending on the local tower and the installation position of the device. 

 

The device is best installed outdoors facing the closest Telstra tower, bearing in mind that there may be more than 1 tower that the device can connect toThe device has 3 lights that indicate the signal level. 

 

 

 

Note: The unit does not operate on Telstra 4Gx 700Mhz. 

Connections 

The 4G NTU requires connection of an ethernet cable which will carry both the data and power to the unit.   The image below shows the commonly used ports. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The POE Injector is used to supply both Power + Data to the unit, this is especially useful if the unit is placed outdoors as you will only need an Ethernet cable between the Outdoor unit and the POE Injector indoorsPlease ensure you follow the diagram below to connect the cables up in the correct wayReversing the connections will cause damage to the unit. 

 

 

Authentication 

The 4G NTU requires a router to authenticate the connection and receive the static IP AddressSetup a PPPoE connection of your router of choice entering in the Username and Password supplied in the Service completion email for from the label on the box. 

 

There is no requirement to enter the IP address on your router, the IP Address will be assigned when the device authenticates, this won’t change. 

 

Maximum Transmission Unit (MTU) 

The 4G network imposes some limitation on the size network packetsThe maximum packet size on the network is 1400 bytes Please ensure you set the PPPoE interface MTU on your router to 1400 Bytes
